LOCAL STUDENT WINS CLEAN WATER CAMPAIGN ESSAY CONTEST

The Georgia Clean Water Campaign and Water Use It Wisely, off-spring of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District (MNGWPD), sponsor an essay contest each year for middle school students in each of the counties in the District, which includes all of the Metro Atlanta Counties. The contest is a part of the Clean Water Campaign’s education and outreach efforts. Students write about the importance of preserving water and protecting this precious natural resource. This year in Fayette County, the winner is Shelby Bock, a seventh grader at J.C. Middle School. Fayette County Commission Chairman and member of the Atlanta Regional Commission, Jack Smith, presented Shelby’s award to her, accompanied by a representative from the Clean Water Campaign. He said “It was a genuine pleasure to read Shelby’s essay. She obviously understands the importance of protecting our water resources and her presentation of information about water conservation and protection was excellent. I was proud to meet her and would encourage her to continue to be involved in activities that educate others about clean air and water protection.”
