April 13, 2017 UPDATE: The Stormwater Utility became effective January 1, 2012, and is a user-based fee, whose only purpose, is to pay for the repair or improvement of stormwater structures. The user fees pay for costs exclusively dedicated to repair and replacement of County stormwater infrastructure.
With the passage of the 2017 SPLOST, which includes over $23,741,641 for 238 Stormwater Utility related projects, staff recommended the Stormwater Utility be repealed and future repair and maintenance work (beyond the six-year SPLOST) be paid through routine funding from the General Fund.
EFFECTIVE April 25, 2017: The Board of Commissioners approved to repeal the Stormwater Utility, Article VI of Chapter 28. Please read Ordinance 2017-07 to review detailed information regarding Stormwater Utility repeal.
The last bill was assessed September 26, 2016. Accounts with credit balances will be refunded either through Water System account or monetary reimbursement. A sunset date of December 31, 2017 was provided to allow collection efforts for delinquent fees to continue.
Accounts with delinquent balances will be turned over to collections before the sunset date of December 31, 2017.
