Elections Poll Worker Information

Welcome to the Fayette County Board of Elections Information page on how to become a Poll Official for Fayette County!

Are You Interested In Serving Your Community?

The Fayette County Elections & Voter Registration is seeking highly motivated and dependable residents to serve as Poll Officials. The role requires commitment from 6:00 AM until approximately two hours after the polls close on Election Day. Please note that selected candidates must attend a mandatory training class before Election Day.

Poll Officials must report to their assigned precinct by 6:00 AM on Election Day and remain on duty until the polls have closed, all paperwork is completed, and the precinct is properly closed.

Managers and Assistant Managers are responsible for accompanying ballots and memory cards back to the Fayette County Elections & Voter Registration once all closing poll activities are completed. All Poll Officials should anticipate a minimum 14-hour workday, which may involve extensive standing or sitting in one position.

All Poll Officials must attend one of our scheduled training classes, which are required before each election cycle. Poll Officials who complete the scheduled training will receive a stipend of $40.00 for the mandated in-person class. You will be notified if you are selected to attend a training class and to serve as a Poll Official or alternate Poll Official. All Poll Officials must agree to be paid via direct deposit. Applications remain on file for two years.

CLERK $ 175.00

  1. Must be a resident of Fayette County. Must be at least 16 years of age.
  2. Must attend and complete training class conducted by Fayette County Elections & Voter Registration before each election.
  3. Must assist with setting up polling place.
  4. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

ASSISTANT MANAGER $ 215.00

  1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
  2. Must be willing to act as Poll Manager in their absence if requested by the Elections Department, including picking up and delivering election supplies and equipment to a check-in center (mandatory).
  3. Must have served as a Clerk in at least ONE prior election in Fayette County.
  4. Must have your own transportation for picking up and delivering election supplies and equipment, and be able to lift 30 lbs.
  5. Must accompany Poll Manager on election night to deliver supplies and ballots to check–in center.
  6. Must assist with setting up polling place.
  7. Must attend and complete the training class conducted by Fayette County Elections & Voter Registration before each election.

MANAGER $ 280.00

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  3. Must have served in at least one prior election in Fayette County as an Assistant Manager.
  4. Must attend and complete training class conducted by Fayette County Elections & Voter Registration before each election.
  5. Must have your own transportation for picking up and delivering election supplies and equipment to the check-in center, and be able to lift 30 lbs.
  6. Must assist with setting up polling place.
