Elections Poll Worker Information

Welcome to the Fayette County Board of Elections Information page on how to become a Poll Official for Fayette County!

Are you interested in serving your community, making new friends, and earning extra money? Do you possess basic computer skills? Apply to become one of the many civic-minded citizens who work at the polls on Election Day! The Fayette County Elections Office is seeking highly motivated dependable individuals to work from 6:00 A.M. until approximately 8:30 to 9:30PM on Election Day. Also there will be a mandatory two (2) hour training class prior to an Election Day if you are selected to work an Election. This is a paid volunteer temporary position. Poll officials must report to their assigned precinct on Election Day by 6:00AM and remain on duty until the polls have closed and all paperwork is completed. The poll manager and one poll official must accompany ballots and memory cards back to the Fayette County Voter Registration and Elections office in Fayetteville after all the poll activities have been completed. All poll officials should anticipate a minimum 14 hour day, which may include a lot of standing or sitting in one position

*ALL POLL OFFICALS MUST*

Attend one of our scheduledtraining classes that are required for all Poll Officials prior to each election cycle. Poll Officials who complete the scheduled training are paid $30.00 for the two hour in person training class. You will be notified if you are selected to attend a training class and or to be a Poll Official or alternate Poll Official. Applications remain on file for two years.

Temporary positions at each precinct include:


CLERK/GREETER $ 130.00

  1. Must be a resident of Fayette County.
  2. Must be at least 16 years of age.
  3. Must assist with setting up the polling place.
  4. Must successfully attend and complete training class conducted by Fayette County Elections before each election.
  5. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  6. Must set up direct deposit if you are selected to work.

ASSISTANT MANAGER $ 160.00

  1. Must be willing to perform duties as Poll Manager, in his or her absence if requested by the Elections Office (which would require picking up election supplies and or equipment and bringing the same back to check it in at the Elections Office.) This is mandatory.
  2. Must have served as a Clerk in at least ONE prior election in Fayette County.
  3. Must be a resident of Fayette County
  4. Must have your own transportation to pick up election supplies and/or equipment and bringing same to check-in at the elections office the night of the Election, and also be able to lift 30 lbs.
  5. Must set up direct deposit if you are selected to work.
  6. Must accompany Poll Manager on election night to deliver supplies and ballots to check – in at the Elections Office.
  7. Must assist with setting up polling place.
  8. Must successfully attend and complete training class conducted by Fayette County Elections before each election cycle.

MANAGER $ 210.00

  1. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Must be a resident of Fayette County.
  3. Must have served in at least ONE prior election in Fayette County as an Assistant Manager.
  4. Must successfully attend and complete training class conducted by Fayette County Elections before each election cycle.
  5. Must have your own transportation to pick up election supplies and/or equipment and bringing same to check-in at the elections office and be able to lift 30lbs.
  6. Must set up direct deposit if you are selected to work.
