Animal Control

Public Notice
Fayette County Animal Control is reminding residents not to feed wildlife in populated areas. Providing food may attract deer as well as raccoons, foxes, and other wildlife. When animals become dependent on human‑provided food, they stop foraging naturally and may begin approaching people.
Recently, several raccoons have been reported approaching residents. These encounters are often mistaken for signs of rabies, when in fact the animals have simply been conditioned to expect food. Unfortunately, this behavior can lead to animals being unnecessarily euthanized out of concern for public safety.
For the wellbeing of both residents and wildlife, please admire animals from a safe distance and do not provide supplemental food.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Fayette County Animal Control at fayettecountyga.gov/animalcontrol

However, if you did not receive a 2024 reporting form for business, personal property, boats, airplanes, or freeport, these forms are available on the Assessors Office website: www.fayettecountyga.gov/assessors_office

Road Department
ROAD CLOSURE

Please be advised that beginning on or after March 6, 2026, a portion of Cross Creek Trail will be reduced to single lane traffic from 215 Stoneridge Way to 115 Cross Creek Trail for a 2017 SPLOST stormwater replacement project.  The road is scheduled to be fully open by August 28, 2026, weather permitting.
The project location is at or near the property line of 215 Stoneridge Way and 115 Cross Creek Trail in Fayette County and consists of removing the existing deteriorating quadruple 72-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe (CMP) culverts conveying a creek below Cross Creek Trail and replacing with a double 9-foot by 9-foot reinforced concrete box culvert.
Fayette County apologizes for any inconvenience this project may cause, but the work is necessary for the safety of the citizens and preservation of the County’s infrastructure.  If you have any questions, please contact 770-305-5410 or email SPLOST@fayettecountyga.gov
You can also visit the SPLOST website https://fayettecountyga.gov/splost-2017/ for specific project information.
