The Fayette County Code Enforcement is a division of the Marshal’s Office and is responsible for enforcing county ordinances adopted by the Fayette County Board of Commissioners. The primary mission is to preserve the quality of life, health and welfare of all Fayette County citizens.
The Code Enforcement Division has the primary responsibility of ensuring compliance with the County’s various land use codes and regulations ranging from abandoned vehicles, unkempt premises to illegal signs, noise and unpermitted structures. The Marshal’s Office Code Enforcement Unit tries first to obtain compliance through education and collaboration, as opposed to focusing on punitive measures such as citations and fines. We have found this approach successful in resolving many code violations soon after notification.
Reports of suspected code violations can be made in person, via phone or through the web site listed above.
The Code Enforcement Unit is also responsible for the enforcement of regulations governing alcohol licenses, personal care homes, sign regulations, and various other county ordinances.
