Parks & Recreation Lake Horton Park and Reservoir

1275 Antioch Road, Fayetteville, Ga. 30215

Lake Horton Park and Reservoir, located in south Fayette County is 780 acres and stores 3.5 billion gallons of water. The lake provides 16 -18 million gallons per day during drought conditions. Lake Horton Park is 82 acres and offers 2.8 miles of paved walking trails, boat ramps, picnic areas and fishing. Hydrocarbon or alcohol-fueled power boats or other vessels so powered are prohibited. No swimming, skiing, scuba diving or other bodily contact with the water is allowed. The park offers complete picnic facilities which are available for rental through the Fayette County Recreation Department.

Lake Horton Park: Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are the Parking fees for Lake Horton Park?
    All vehicles with a Non-Fayette County tag must display an annual pass for admission. An annual pass can be purchased for $300. For information contact Parks & Recreation at 770-716-4320.
  2. How can I reserve Lake Horton Park?
    Pavilions may be reserved at Lake Horton Park for events of at least five (5) people by contacting Parks and Recreation at 770-716-4320.
  3. Can I fish at Lake Horton Park, and if so, what are the restrictions?
    Fishing is permitted at Lake Horton Park, anyone wishing to do so must have a valid fishing license and use an electric motor boat only, if a person has a gas motor, it must be lifted so as not to touch the water at all times.
  4. What are the Parks hours of operation?
    Open - 6:30 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. EST or 6:30 a.m. till 8:30 p.m. DST.
  5. Why do out of county vehicles have to pay for admission to the park?
    Lake Horton Park was funded exclusively by the residents of Fayette County; therefore, any Non-Fayette County residents wishing to use the resources of the park are required to pay for admission.
  6. Is swimming permitted at Lake Horton Park?
    No. Swimming, scuba diving, and any activities that involve bodily contact with the water is prohibited.
  7. Where is Lake Horton Park located?
    Lake Horton Park is located on Antioch Rd in Fayetteville.
  8. Are pets allowed at Lake Horton Park, and if so, what are the rules to having them there?
    Pets are allowed at the Park; however they must be on a leash at all times per Fayette County Ordinance. Also, pets as well as pet owners are not allowed to swim or have any bodily contact with the water.

The Fayette County Parks & Recreation Department has picnic facilities at Brooks, Kenwood, Kiwanis, McCurry, Lake Horton, and Lake McIntosh Parks which may be reserved based on availability. Any group, organization or individual must complete a contract for rental, sign a clean-up procedure form, and pay usage fees according to the county in which they live. Reservations are taken on a "first-come, first served" basis and may only be reserved once every six weeks in advance of the event. Reservations must be made in person Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Activities House office. Reservations for the weekend must be made by noon on Thursday of that week. Proof of residency will be required! Reservation time should include setup time and cleanup time.

Fees

Fees that apply are due at the time of reservation. The reservation charge may be in the form of cash, check, or money order.

Fee Schedule: Outdoor Facilities
Resident $30.00 per hour
Out-of-County Residents $60.00 per hour

All vehicles with a Non-Fayette County tag must display an annual pass for admission to Lake Horton, Lake McIntosh, and Lake Kedron. The annual pass fee is $300.00 per vehicle.

Refunds for the reservation fee will not be given; however, if your event is canceled due to inclement weather, the Parks & Recreation Department will reschedule your event based on availability.
