The project will improve safety and reduce congestion and wait time at the intersection. Proposed turn lanes and deceleration lanes are anticipated to help minimize congestion thus improving safety at the intersection. There is not a signal light proposed for this project. Stop signs will continue to control traffic on Inman Rd. and Goza Rd. where they meet with State Route 92. The speed limit will remain as posted on both of these roads.
Additional right-of way may be needed for the additional pavement associated with the proposed turn lanes. Specific right-of-way needs will be determined as the design is finalized. We anticipate acquisition of property, if necessary, to begin in 2010.
The project construction cost is estimated at $125,000 and will be funded completely with Fayette County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax dollars. This is a conceptual design cost estimate. The SPLOST was approved by the County citizens in November of 2004 and is in effect from April 2005 to March 2010. Construction is planned for the Summer of 2010.
