The Bureau of Fire Prevention is responsible for:
- Annual business inspections
- Maintaining hydrant records
- Reviewing new construction and renovation plans for commercial buildings
- Coordinating the fire safety education program
- Investigating the cause of all fires
- Conducting arson investigations
Additionally, the Bureau of Fire Prevention manages the department's information records system and issues permits for:
- Outdoor burning
- Blasting
- Fireworks displays
- Underground and aboveground storage tanks
- Flammable liquid storage
- Fire safety compliance
- Fire Protection Systems (Fire sprinklers/alarms)
