Marriage Officiant

Pursuant to Georgia law any minister, judge, city recorder, magistrate or other person authorized to serve as an officiant for marriage may complete the license and solemnize the marriage. It is up to the parties to locate and obtain the services of an officiant who will complete the license, deem the parties marriead and return the completed license to the Probate Court. There is a distinction between the solemnization of a marriage and wedding ceremony.

There is no required use of any particular officiant for either solemnization or a wedding ceremony. Also there is no designated source for these services in any department within the county even though some county officials may perform this service if they are available during business hours.

The following judeges may be willing to perform a wedding ceremony after regular business hours. If you are interested in such a ceremony you may contact:

Judge Angela Landgaard : 678-612-1070
Judge James Dalton: 678-467-6881
Judge Jason Thompson: 770-716-4270
