Interactive Display: Two Sentence Scary Story
Throughout the month of October (during business hours)

Unleash your creativity and craft spine-tingling tales in just two sentences for a thrilling writing challenge. This exercise encourages writers to explore the art of brevity, using suspense and imaginative twists to captivate readers, all while honing their storytelling skills in a fun and engaging way.


Candy Corn Guess
Monday, October 6th— Friday, October 31st (during business hours)

Swing by the front desk and take a shot at guessing how many pieces of candy corn are in the jar! The closest answer in each age range (kids, teens, and adults) will win a prize. Open to all ages.


Nintendo Switch Night
Monday, October 6th (4:30—5:45 PM)

Join us for a fun night of gaming with our Nintendo Switch! Have your own Switch? Bring it with you! This program is for ages 9—18.

Overcoming Procrastination: Tackling Time Management
Saturday, October 18th (2:00—3:30 PM)

Do you find yourself frustrated or living with regret over not getting things done in a timely manner? Do you habitually wait to the last minute, then vow you’ll start earlier the next time, only to repeat the cycle? Are you getting behind on your work, feel overwhelmed, and not sure how to catch up? Solutions to these issues exist, and we’re going to discover them together at this free workshop!

Join us for a screening of Death Note Vol. 1, episodes 1—4 (2016, NR, 1h40m). Refreshments will be provided by the library. Ages 13—18.


Zombie Scavenger Hunt

Dive into a world of mystery and excitement as you navigate through a series of spine-tingling challenges to find hidden clues and escape the living dead. Unleash your inner detective, solve puzzles, and outsmart the zombies to win epic prizes!


Global Diversity Celebration

Global Diversity Celebration Kickoff (All Ages)
Saturday, October 4th (1:00—2:00 PM)

Kick off Global Diversity Month by learning about Brazil! Enjoy live music, storytelling, Samba, delicious food, and community fellowship. After the program, visit the gazebo for an energetic, interactive drumming lesson with Dr. Teddy Hall.


Beginners Portuguese (All Ages)
Wednesdays, October 8th & 29th (1:00—2:00 PM)

Explore the beauty of Brazil’s language with beginner-friendly lessons.


DIY Brazilian Masks (All Ages)
Wednesday, October 15th (12:00—1:00 PM)

Get creative and design colorful masks inspired by Brazil’s Carnival traditions. All materials will be provided by the library. No experience needed!


Global Diversity Movie Series – Celebrate Brazil!
Experience the music, stories, and spirit of Brazil on the big screen!

Black Orpheus (1959, PG) – A dazzling retelling of the Greek myth set in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival, filled with breathtaking music and dance.

Wednesday, October 25th (1:00—2:45 PM)
Rio (2011, G) – A colorful family adventure! Follow Blu, a rare macaw, through Rio during Carnival in this fun, music-filled animated film
