DUI & Drug CourtMission Statement:
Identify and educate those with addictions through accountability and treatment to strengthen our community in a collaborative court setting. The process that eligible participants receive entails individualized treatment and counseling under the supervision of the court. Undergoing this process offers a variety of incentives including sobriety, quality treatment, reduction in jail time/fines, and community service (based on program compliance and active participation), and assistance with license reinstatement when eligible.
Eligibility
- 2nd DUI in 5 years, or 3rd DUI in lifetime, or DUI with aggravating circumstances
- A resident of Fayette County
- No violent convictions
- No convictions for selling or distributing a controlled substance
- Admission of a problem and a desire for treatment and recovery
Veterans Treatment CourtMission Statement:
Identify and educate Veterans through accountability and treatment to strengthen our community in a collaborative environment. The process that eligible participants receive entails individualized treatment, mentoring, and surveillance in the form of random check-ups and drug/alcohol testing.
Eligibility:
Candidate must be a veteran with service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or corresponding reserves or National Guard. One must also have the following charges and no excluding factors:
- Possession of controlled substance
- Prescription drug offense
- Criminal charges in which drug use is a major factor or where there are indications that trauma or mental illness may have a factor
- Recommendations from law enforcement officers, probation officers, defense attorneys, district attorney’s office, solicitor general’s office, family members, judges, etc.
