Understanding Your Building Inspection 🏡🛠️
Navigating the building inspection process can seem complicated, but it's essential for ensuring your project is safe and compliant. This guide will walk you through the key steps, from scheduling to understanding your project's status.
How to Schedule an Inspection
You can easily schedule an inspection using your SAGES account.
-
Log in to your SAGES account.
-
Open the permit and click the "Inspections" tab.
Requests submitted before 4 p.m. are scheduled for the next business day.
Please Note: We cannot accept inspection requests left on individual staff voicemails. All requests and cancellations must be made through SAGES.
Following the Correct Order
Inspections must be completed in a specific sequence. If you receive a "red alert" when trying to schedule, it means you're attempting to perform the inspection out of order.
-
ESC 1 Inspection (Erosion and Sediment Control) must be approved before you can schedule any slab inspections.
-
Rough Inspections (like plumbing, electrical, and mechanical) must be completed before the system allows you to schedule a framing and anchor bolt inspection.
-
ESC 2 Inspection must be approved before you can schedule your framing and anchor bolt inspections.
-
ESC 3 Inspection is required and must be approved before your final building inspection. We recommend scheduling this with your final electrical, mechanical, and HVAC inspections.
Monitoring Your Project
-
Inspections Tab: Your SAGES permit's "Inspections" tab lists all the assigned inspections for your project.
-
Holds Tab: Regularly check the "Holds" tab in your account. This section lists any outstanding requirements from the plan review. If these items are not submitted promptly, your project's progress will be delayed.
Need to Cancel AN INSPECTION?
Inspection cancellations must be submitted through SAGES.gov before 9 a.m. on the scheduled day.
