At Fayette County Animal Shelter, we take pride in serving our community and caring for its animals. We recognize the vital role pets play in enriching lives, and we work proactively to address the ongoing issue of stray and homeless animals. Our services include assistance for lost, injured, abused, and aggressive animals, always with public safety as our top priority.
Our dedicated officers respond to calls for strays, investigate abuse, and handle emergencies such as animal bites or injured animals including wildlife. If we can’t directly assist, we’ll guide you to the right resources. Our shelter is open and welcoming, housing animals recovering from trauma, waiting for their owners, or seeking new homes.
You can help by adopting, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. Sharing animals on social media or telling a friend can make a big difference. We also offer enrichment programs like Weekend Warrior and Dog for the Day, where you can take a dog out temporarily to give them a break and help us learn more about their behavior.
Professional trainers volunteer to assess dogs, improving their chances of adoption. We house dogs, cats, and sometimes rabbits, birds, and exotics, all vetted and ready to join loving families.
