Ebenezer Church, Ebenezer & Spear Roads Intersection

This location has two intersections offset from each other by approximately 150 feet. The intersections generate above-average complaints about vehicle speed on Ebenezer Road and sight distance limitations. There are no sidewalks or multi-use paths in the area but there is high bike use, especially on weekends. This project’s goal is to improve safety, reduce vehicles speeds on Ebenezer Road, and optimize the intersections with bike use and future multi-use path expansion. *Budget changes reflect action by the Board of Commissioners.

Latest Update:

This project is complete.

10/11/2023 - Due to the proximity of at least one known cemetary near the Ebenezer Church, Ebenezer, and Spear Roads intersection, a cemetary delineation was conducted. The results of the cemetary delineation depicted two separate cemetaries with probable graves very close to the roadway.  Based on the locations of the cemetaries, it was determined that intersection improvements would be difficult to construct.  An alternate design to realign the intersection of Ebenzer Church Road and move its intersection with Ebenezer Road 1,166 feet to the north was constructed and is now open to the public. The project is nearly complete. Tasks remaining include: the final lift of asphalt; final striping; and signage for the one-way road.
