Fire/EMS Training Center Phase II

Updated 10/2/2026

The Training Center Facility Phase II project will expand the county’s training capacity, improve efficiency, and support joint training with mutual and automatic aid partners. It will also broaden course offerings through partnerships with the Fayette County Board of Education and Southern Crescent Technical College, supported by adding two certified Fire/EMS Instructor Officers once operational.

Key features include an outdoor training pavilion near the burn building and tower for weather protection, skill practice, and safe regrouping after live fire evolutions. A dedicated restroom facility will reduce movement to the main building and support cancer‑prevention efforts by limiting exposure to smoke byproducts. A Class‑A materials storage structure will preserve burn materials by keeping them protected from weather. A new Burn/Tower Control Facility will add upgraded technology for safer, closely monitored live-fire operations with remote stop/start controls and rapid ventilation.

The facility will also connect to nearby fiber networking, enabling remote training and streamed course delivery for both county personnel and partners. Additional tower accessories such as movable walls and confined‑space components will further increase training functionality.
