Fayette County Public Works Employees Highlight Safe Digging Month

Fayette County, GA — The women of Fayette County Public Works gathered at the department’s McDonough Road facility to recognize April as Safe Digging Month and reinforce the importance of utility safety across the community.

“Safe digging is something we emphasize year‑round,” said Fayette County Transportation Engineer Paola Kimbell. “It starts at the concept phase and continues through construction and maintenance. Fayette County is proud to be a reliable partner in damage prevention.”

Participating in the recognition were (L‑R): Jamie Comelleri, Parts Clerk & Service Writer; Tammy Walker, Seasonal Road Worker; Paola Kimbell, Transportation Engineer; Rhonda Coots, Administrative Specialist; and Kourtney Breeden, Administrative Assistant.

Safe Digging Month serves as a reminder for residents and contractors to always contact Georgia 811 before starting any digging project to prevent injuries, utility damage, and service disruptions.
