Fayette Chamber Honors County Clerk Tameca Smith with Braveheart Award
FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — The Fayette Chamber of Commerce has selected Fayette County Clerk Tameca Smith as a recipient of the Braveheart Award for Excellence in Public Safety and Public Service. This first‑time award recognizes individuals who demonstrate courage, dedication, and exceptional service to the Fayette County community. The award was presented Sept. 3 during a luncheon at the Fayette Chamber of Commerce. Smith established the Fayette County Citizen Workshop, an esteemed educational initiative offering a comprehensive series of courses designed to enlighten and empower residents through an in‑depth exploration of all 32 Fayette County departments.

This first‑time award recognizes individuals who demonstrate courage, dedication, and exceptional service to the Fayette County community. The award was presented Sept. 3 during a luncheon at the Fayette Chamber of Commerce. Smith established the Fayette County Citizen Workshop, an esteemed educational initiative offering a comprehensive series of courses designed to enlighten and empower residents through an in‑depth exploration of all 32 Fayette County departments.
“Tameca Smith’s unwavering commitment to public service, combined with creative problem-solving and selfless leadership, has left a lasting impact on the Fayette County community,” said Steve Rapson, County Administrator.
Jason Tinsley, Assistant Administrator, nominated Smith for her unwavering commitment to Fayette County and her exceptional dedication to public service. Her self‑motivation, creative problem‑solving, and selfless leadership were underscored as defining qualities.
“I am proud to nominate Tameca Smith for the Public Service Award in recognition of her exceptional work developing and launching the Fayette County Citizen Workshop. Tameca recognized a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between local government operations and the citizens we serve, taking the initiative to build this program from the ground up,” he said.
Smith has served Fayette County for 13 years, including nine as county clerk. She holds a master’s degree in business administration and is a master certified county clerk. She currently serves as president of the Georgia County Clerks Association (2026–2028) and is a member of the ACCG Policy Committee, ACCG Joint Policy Committee, and ACCG Board of Managers (2026–2028). Smith is co‑chair of the Fayette County Community Remembrance Coalition and a member of the Fayette County Library Toastmasters International. Honored as the ACCG Leadership Development Advocate of the Year, she is committed to collaboration, innovation, and ethical governance.
