Fayette Chamber Selects Battalion Chief Bryan Blair for Public Safety Award
FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — The Fayette Chamber of Commerce has selected Battalion Chief Bryan Blair of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services as a recipient of its Public Safety Award. The annual award recognizes individuals who demonstrate courage, dedication and exceptional service to the Fayette County community.
“Throughout his distinguished tenure, Chief Blair has responded to tens of thousands of emergency calls, tirelessly and faithfully serving our citizens with an impeccable record of over 38 years. Chief Blair exemplifies professional excellence, consistently operating and making critical decisions guided by a strong internal moral compass and an unwavering standard of integrity. He personally responds to every high-impact call during his shift to serve as the Incident Commander, seamlessly balancing this intense operational responsibility with a demanding administrative workload. Beyond his daily operational leadership, Chief Blair is a proven innovator. Notably, he designed and created a comprehensive incident command board and management process for the department. This system, which utilizes custom tracking tags to manage apparatus and manpower, is entirely his creation, and he meticulously keeps the entire process updated. “Battalion Chief Bryan Blair’s remarkable career is a testament to unwavering dedication and distinguished decades of service overseeing operations,” County Manager Steve Rapson said.
Chief Blair serves as a battalion chief overseeing operations and personnel for B Shift. His distinguished career spans four decades, beginning in 1985 as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Fayetteville before transitioning into a full‑time role. He joined Fayette County in 1987 as a firefighter/EMT. Shortly after completing recruit school, he attended paramedic school at Clayton State University, graduating as the “Top Medic” in his class. His clinical excellence has been recognized with multiple cardiac and trauma save awards.
Blair holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Columbia Southern University. He is a nationally registered paramedic, certified Georgia Basic Emergency Manager, NPQ Fire Officer IV, Fire Instructor II, incident safety officer, and certified financial planner.
The award was presented during a Fayette Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Sept. 3.
