ollowing the tragic loss of Officer David Rose in DeKalb County on August 8, Fayette County 911 Communications stepped in to support their fellow dispatchers. Through the “Tubs of Love” initiative, now in its second year, Fayette County gathered comfort items and messages of encouragement to bring hope and relief to 911 professionals facing hardship.
Tubs of Love raised over $300. A variety of items, such as snacks, fidgets, blankets, and word searches, were donated. Fayette County 911 staff personally crafted handmade grey teddy bears, each featuring a golden heart symbolizing the thin gold line. A gold line represents 911 dispatchers as the critical connection between the public and first responders during emergencies. While each teddy bear was being stuffed by the staff, they thought about the “always ready, always there” motto of the 911 Center in DeKalb County.
“The success of the Tubs of Love initiative is a testament to the heart of our 911 staff. I am immensely proud of our team’s dedication and generosity, which exemplify the true spirit of service and compassion in every aspect of this donation effort,” said Katye Vogt, 911 Communications Director.
By sharing this small token of care, Fayette County honors the dedication of DeKalb County 911 employees and reinforces the bond that unites the public safety family.
“In public safety, we know the job is never easy, and when tragedy strikes, it impacts all of us. We stand with our 911 colleagues and law enforcement partners at DeKalb County as they navigate this heartbreaking time,” said Sharon Miller, 911 Records Manager.
