ayette County EMS Achieves Landmark Accreditation Status for Advanced-EMT Program

Fayette County, GA - October 2, 2025 – Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services announces a major milestone in its commitment to excellence in emergency medical services education. ‘The Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services AEMT program holds a Letter of Review, which is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, but is a status granted by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self-Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. However, it is NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.’

This achievement signifies that the AEMT program has demonstrated satisfactory compliance with the rigorous core standards and guidelines for accreditation established by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Fayette County's AEMT program is now one of the elite few to reach this status nationwide, and it is the first AEMT program in the State of Georgia to receive a CoAEMSP LoR.

"This has been an exhaustive process for our Training staff, but they are continuously up for the challenge," said Chief Jeffrey Hill. "Every new program or project we implement, we implement with the mindset and goal of keeping our community safe. The Citizens of Fayette County deserve our absolute best every day, and our first responders deserve the highest quality training to accomplish that goal.”

The LoR is a critical step toward the final goal: achieving full CAAHEP accreditation for both the AEMT and Paramedic programs near the first quarter of 2026. This final accreditation will be based on a recommendation from CoAEMSP and the outcomes of the current AEMT class.

This demanding process represents a significant effort by the department. "This has been a tremendous workload for our Training Officers under the direction of Capt. Jason Anderson to make this a reality for Fayette County," the spokesperson added. "With this final accreditation, every educational program we run will be fully accredited, setting a new standard for EMS training in our region."
